The tech came to tell me what recomended service I might need. I asked about the air filters. He said they didn't check them. I inquired for the reason stating that they had always told me if I needed them. He told me they didn't have the tool to check them. I asked for the manager. The manager told me that my Honda needed a special tool to open the air filter case. He then told me that he told the tech where to find one. Now here's the thing I have even changed them myself without having to get a special tool.
I am and have been a customer of Jiffy Lube for years. I brought my wife's car here to be serviced for the first time since we purchased it used. I understand that the vehicle is a VW Jetta and it may be less common and thus more difficult to work on. But, it is by no means "uncommon" enough for the staff to tell me they couldn't find the air filter or the brake fluid reservoir. A quick google search later and I myself have found both without any trouble. After inspection of my car after the service I found that the fuse box lid and the battery box lid had both been removed and not properly re-installed (I'm guessing in an attempt to find the air filter). Oil was dripped over several spots on the engine shielding that were not wiped clean. Lastly, upon check out the service tech asked how long I wanted to wait for the next service to which I asked, "We went with synthetic in right?" She replied, "Well, they're all synthetic". Implying that all oils are synthetic oils which is not true. If that is true then why is there two separate up-charges to have a "synthetic" oil change done instead of the conventional oil change that is part of the Signature Oil Change Jiffy Lube offers? I have been to a bunch of Jiffy Lubes and will return but not to this location. I feel the store needs help with education for the employees. They also need to be evaluated on their abilities to provide quality service like other locations I have been to. I would however like to say they were professional as well as very courteous to myself and all the other customers I heard them serve during my visit.
I have been a Jiffylube customer in four states for over 20 years. The service has always been first rate. That is why I always come back.
